Chaplaincy in Greater Bristol

ARE YOU CURRENTLY IN A CHAPLAINCY ROLE IN BRISTOL?

THEN THIS IS FOR YOU…

Chaplaincy has become a new modern ministry that reaches 95% of people who don’t have regular contact with our local churches.

Traditionally, chaplains have worked for many years in prisons, hospitals and the armed forces. More recently, we are seeing chaplaincy growing in significance, with chaplains now working across all sectors. Chaplains are now:

  • in schools and universities

  • on the railways

  • in sport

  • in the workplace

  • in the emergency services

  • in communities

  • in healthcare

  • with minority groups

  • in our town and city centres

  • And many more

We have a great opportunity to join together and learn from one another, by praying, encouraging and supporting each other in the roles and tasks we undertake. Together, we can provide a united and joined approach in our work.

Register with us below and become part of a new chaplaincy network. In return for your registration, you will be added to our database and will receive regular updates on chaplaincy events across the greater Bristol area. There will be opportunities for us to explore working together and to encourage each other in core areas and sharing our diverse experiences.

Chaplaincy Events

Chaplaincy Networking Evening - Wednesday 26th June : 7:30pm - 9:30pm

This evening is for anyone who is working as a chaplain in the Bristol area or for anyone who is considering chaplaincy as a ministry. This is a great opportunity for us as chaplains to gather together to encourage and learn from each other.

We are really excited to be welcoming Ant Newman to join us for this Networking Evening.

Ant works as an occupational psychologist and has spent many years working in frontline youth and adult homeless, addiction and mental health services.

Ant will be leading a session on the subject of Trauma and we know that we will all absolutely benefit from this important topic.

The session will be a whistle stop tour of exploring working with those affected by trauma, raising awareness around presenting symptoms, safe ways of working
and engagement strategies. It will be informal, evidence-based, with group discussion.

During the evening we will also have our usual open Q&A session so if you have a question or a scenario you would like to raise, we are sure someone will be able to help with some words of wisdom.

For this session we would like to ask for a voluntary donation of £5 each so that we can honour Ant with a gift for his time both at the session and in preparation for this. You could bring this in cash on the night or donate through our Just Giving Campaign - https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/bristolchaplaincy. However, we would rather you be with us than for money to be a pressure so this is a voluntary donation.

During the evening we will also have our usual open Q&A session so if you have a question or a scenario you would like to raise, we are sure someone will be able to help with some words of wisdom.

The networking evening is taking place on the “Upper Reaches Prayer Barge” in Temple Quay, BS2 0DW. The barge is moored at the bottom of the steps by ‘The Double Puc’ cafe at the bottom of “The Eye” apartment building and can be seen from Valentine Bridge (the bendy pedestrian bridge).
